Top Tips for Preparing Your Home for Autumn - Essential Home Maintenance for the Fall Season

When the air turns crisp, and those hot chocolates start calling – you know what time it is! Autumn is on its way, and there's no better way to embrace it than by giving your home a feel of autumn. Read on for some easy tips for preparing your home for autumn.

Warm Up Your Textiles:

Drape your furniture with soft, plush throws and add cushions in rich, autumnal shades. Think burnt oranges, deep reds, and earthy browns. These additions not only bring warmth but also create a cosy, inviting atmosphere.

A great place to look for beautiful blankets and throws is The British Blanket Company. They have so many beautiful designs to choose from. Here are three of my personal favourites that would make great additions to your autumnal space:

Embrace Nature:

Bring the outdoors in by giving your home some natural elements. Grab some pinecones, acorns, and colourful leaves for rustic table centrepieces. Arrange them in baskets, glass jars, or decorative bowls to instantly infuse an autumnal feel.

Plant Some Fresh Bulbs Ready For Next Spring

Autumn is a good time to plant some new bulbs ready for the spring or summer. There are plants that benefit from the colder temperatures.

Change Your Scents

Light scented candles or diffuse essential oils like cinnamon, vanilla, and apple.

Harvest-Inspired Décor

Pumpkins and autumnal wreaths are classic symbols of the season. Place them on your porch, mantel, or dining table to create a festive atmosphere that welcomes the autumn season.

Table Displays

Set the stage for autumn dinners by updating your table settings. Incorporate seasonal-themed dinnerware, napkins, and centrepieces that capture that Autumn feeling. Don't forget the cosy blankets draped over chairs for that extra touch of comfort.

Create some cosy Nooks:

Create inviting reading nooks or relaxation corners where you can curl up with a good book or a warm cup of tea. Layer soft blankets and cushions for a snug and inviting spot that encourages you to unwind.

Swap out your summer curtains

Swap out lightweight summer curtains and linens for heavier textiles like velvet or wool. These changes not only add warmth but keep the cold out and elevate the cosiness of your home.

Consider changing your wall art

Update your wall art with autumn-inspired pieces. Showcase Autumn landscapes or vintage botanical prints.

Update your outdoors

Extend the autumn refresh to your outdoors. Arrange cosy seating areas with plump cushions and blankets, and don't forget to add some festive lighting for those enchanting evenings.

Check Your Boilers and Radiators

Get you boiler serviced. It is the best way to make sure your heating is working safely and effectively.

Opt for Warm Lighting

Keep you lighting low and warm to create a calm feeling.

Copper and bronze Accents

Add some metallic accents to your room, with bronze vases, trays or candle holders for example. They will add instant warmth.

I hope you find these steps helpful in making your home feel ready for Autumn. No stress, no complicated DIYs, just pure autumn goodness.
